It's All Up To City Hall !

TODAY WAS A HUGE STEP FORWARD FOR CHERRY ON TOP/LENEXA!

After many days of emails, coordination and learning about coding terminology....the plans have been turned into 'Chris' at the Lenexa City Hall. This is a huge milestone as we had to work with 2 architectural firms....our Cherry On Top architect and a local architect. The local architect was for permitting only(before plans can be turned in for a building permit a KS architect must review and sign them)....a lovely little tidbit that we found out about late in the game. So, off I went to the local architect, to the printer and then to City Hall where I put on a pretty blouse...reapplied my lip gloss and strutted my super-nice smile. I tried to work any magic I have left...to influence a quick and painless approval. I even got to know Lily the lovely secretary who helped us with all the paperwork! Who knows how she might be able to help! There is a 10 day waiting period where certainly there will be additional information that they will require. After we re-sub mitt the plans with corrections or additions per their request, it will be another 10 day waiting period....If you do the math...We are looking at a mid-October construction start. More time to wait and get organized....In the meantime, we are meeting with the leasing agent with Oak Park Mall next week who is a great Lady who hails from Nebraska....got to love those ties. American Girl Doll store opened up 2 weeks ago...and they took in over $350,000 in 3 days...the spot we are looking at is around the corner from them next to an arcade and across from Justice....Much to consider and much excitement about this possibility.

"RESERVED"

THE most exciting thing to happen this week was....that we have 2 RESERVED parking spots for Cherry On Top and a sign! It was so fun to drive by and say hey...what's that!??? It is amazing how much a 'little' forward process can mean to all of us!

We now have had the architects plans for over a week....and have yet to turn them in to the city of Lenexa. After we received the plans, we found out that we had to have an Architect licensed in KS review and sign the plans...our Architect is based out of CA....so, this has taken some research and time. We have the architect in KS, released the copyright out of CA and they should be able to sign our plans...next week we will turn then into the city...if all goes according to plan. Of course, not much has gone according to plan! We have prayed over the weekend for a renewel of our steadfast spirit! This week we should also receive the bids from the contractors....and then we can continue with our loan. Also up this week...finding our second store. We have put out many 'letters of intent'....and have found ourselves in competition with other yogurt stores and franchises. With this info...and talking with Cherry On Top Corporate...we have decided to pursue getting into the Oakpark Mall....at the same time continuing to review other options outside the mall and around the city. The Mall presents many exciting options ! We will see where this leads us. Cherry On Top currently has 3 of it's stores in malls and so there is experience. All 3 are doing fantastic. None of the other franchises in this area are in Malls...and therefore gives us a big opportunity. Can't wait to see where this week brings us. Waiting...letting the process unfold is THE most difficult part of this adventure. There is a time line...we are on target and still hope to open around Thanksgiving.
